Bounty hunter Bryce and Anastasiya are caught on Devil’s Fork island and pushed into a brutal facility. Unable to escape, Anastasiya has to decide whether she wishes to stay by the side of the man who may sacrifice anything for their freedom, or whether she prefers to go against him if it means helping their captors escape. This suspenseful tale beautifully portrays the intense relationship between Bryce, the perpetually gruff man, and the mysterious Anastasiya, who sees the potential in Bryce despite his rough exterior and smoldering animosity. Authors note: I was approached by my publisher about writing a steamy historical romance, something a little different for my usual poetry and esoteric fiction fare. This is my attempt at a hard-boiled short story done in the tradition of classic western masterpieces like "Windtalkers" or The Quick and the Undead. I'm incredibly excited about how it turned out and am working on the next installment of this series.
