The story follows Claus Landén who after his bestseller Money Changes Everything has decided it's time to go on a holiday with a badly needed break from worldly concerns and the very thought of having to have a new book due in just under six months about the apparently insurmountable task of running his father's family newspaper dealing with tips he'd like to think are pretty much all crap.
And so when he finds a letter in an abandoned theatre box from an estranged parent (who might actually be his late father) in Xi'an, what initially seems a throwaway moment almost leads to backtracked disaster when Claus bumps into Frank Mailander, a childhood friend who's now the editor-in-chief of the local paper in China...
With the whole matter leading to Frank giving Claus a closed-door interview deal - and via it possibly landing Claus the job of his life, Backman steps up his game here.
