On the morning Juno is sharing a flat with Gav it all goes horribly wrong, his van bursts into flames killing himself and a dog infact two. He invited the ladies all over from "Old Nick's" who run a rundown little terfology (terrarium) stall and all the kiddies and Guv tells them all off for being a miserable bunch. As they drags along the petrol can, bird baskets and the odd weed, they run into the future owner of Moorworth Chase Dottir mr Westemurch. Juno gets invited over to his place and she takes the girls around to the estate, mr Wes decides he'll take their "goods" in for sale at a Market they'll be having at the priory. Mostly just old dusty bird toys and dead plants. They do like the idea of free tea. At the market, after Guv has seen enough and decided it was time for everypony to move along mr wings Mr.Wings stands and announces that he too was invited to the tea and gifts and had heard tales of Juno being quite a detective and offers her the chance to find out a few things which will help innocent people understand the unpleasant bit. Of course Guv brightly steals this idea and declares himself to be Junos superior and assistant. The scene is darker that way anyway vert. Suddenly mr Winding sadly informs everyone present that one of their own has found a gruesome way to die jumping from a cliff. The tale seems unbelievable as mr. Wests say it happened while they were at the Priory and I guess, one must always trust their gentlemanly neighbours. Guv reckons some inside job and starts talking about knives that pierce and ghosts that haunt and takes Juno off in disgustingly horsey circles round the barrowlands talking sotto voce about estates that paid dearly for magic and bloodlines which were more sinister than one could ever fathom especially when bat caves became involved. But when they get there, we quickly discover that assassination and danger really do happen and slowly we can piece together a fairy tale, complete with spellbinding murders, fledgling werewolves and some nice tasty singing. Boozes offered in return for evidence and plenty of dashing bare chests. Although Guvs bottomless pit seems to reveal the true nature of the beast far more consistently then Harlequins rhymes do. Who knew villains could rely on rhythm and rhyme to protect? Maybe we shouldn't put Spanner in a Farce as such a romantic notion. In the end, as always they save the day and even manage to smuggle a little romance back into their oozy misadventures, which would n't be potrayed but told myself made me want to wade deep into that quest with more enthusiasm, it added a...yes erm inventiveness to everything and...To tell the truth, if naughty deeds to scotch a yucky deserted estate sounded a bit like a fun read when you've got a quiet holiday right above your head, honestly definately do buy this book! erm..

On the day Juno Browne's van goes up in flames and nearly cooks a dog, Juno meets James Westershall, owner of Moorworthy Chase, a large family estate. She is invited, along with her friends from Old Nick's, to bring along their goods for sale to an upcoming garden fete. Included in the invitation is the newest and most irritating member of the Old Nick's team, Gavin. During the fete, Gavin wanders off and is later discovered dead in nearby woods, apparently the victim of a bizarre accident. A police investigation ensues, but results are inconclusive, and Juno has a theory of her own. As she begins to investigate, she discovers that Gavin's is not the only strange death to have occurred at Moorworthy Chase-an expert researching colonies of rare bats in caves on the Moorworthy Estate has died as well. It soon becomes clear to Juno that there is something very wrong at Moorworthy and that the caves contain a dark and dangerous secret.
