Born on September 12th, 1736 into the Mayflower-Plymouth colony of South Carolina, he tramped the ensuing battlefields of Lexington, Bunker Hill, and Concord, graduating at the top of his class in his desire to become a lawyer but instead went onto captivate his nation in a very public speech.
