О книге: "A Daddy for Jacoby" is a new novel by Christyne Butler, published in 2005. The plot revolves around family issues, although it has interesting twists and turns. Justin Finchwick has a troubled past. Before he becomes a dad, he starts to get better, determined to lead a good life. One day, a mysterious girl named Gina, claiming to be his girlfriend, and telling him he is the father of her seven year old daughter Jacobi, arrives out of the blue. She disappears after leaving the baby on his doorstep. Adopting a child at such a young age seems to be out of character. The novel centers around the tension between Gina (who has failed to become mentally or emotionally mature) and her economically frustrated childhood providing Justin's realistic complications. Unless the couple can construct an effective work environment, Jacobi will not survive. After some complications, the two of them manage to make their relationship work. Overall, Butler's writing is insightful and engaging. I was especially intrigued by the romance elements that developed, that occurred against the backdrop of a relatively drama-filled story. However, I think the ending could have been stronger.
