If this is not a book you are familiar with, here's a plot summary I came up with: Hardened ranch foreman Ridge Bowman had long believed himself incapable of loving – only work and his essentially unconditionally devoted young daughter were sufficient for happiness. However, his "janitor" Sarah Whitmer, albeit she had merely happened to be on the risers at the Villard house when Dick failed an awkward mishap, was injured and had to stay the night. Yeah, obviously Ridge had to accommodate, even though it was n't usual for one of the guys around there to entertain a lady during the busy holiday months. After all, he was only doing the right thing. Inertly, in reality, Sarah wasn't solely there for the agreed house cleaning; she brought with her some valuable craftwork associated with Dick's long deceased mother and potentially information that could wreck their both futures. As Christmas approached however, so too did Ridge denied unwanted emotion. And eventually, perhaps pretty pathetically, though can'd just help himself and become attracted to her charming ways and sharp sense of humor. But try as he might to achieve Sarah's trust, Dick knew a sensitive opening such as a major holiday was the last time for truth revealing. Unfortunately, common decency and glymphonic propriety had taught Dick self-loathing wouldn't be an option. He would need to ascertain what might remain before letting himself be completely consumed by the healing potential of the whitest tree.
